Resistance through Spirituality
Exploring African Spirituality in cuba
April 20-29, 2027
About the Delegation
What role have African Spiritualities played in the Cuban people’s resistance to the Blockade? How do Cubans, a Black-majority country, approach environmental protection, spiritualities, housing rights, and healthcare?
Since the colonization and enslavement period, people have resisted through spirituality the impositions of imperialism. Today, these spiritual traditions have been upheld by Black communities and faith has continues been a form of resistance.
Join this delegation and learn more about African-rooted spiritualities and their role in resistance and in the struggle for justice. Join us in this trip and learn more about the impacts of the blockade on spiritualities in Cuba and how to show solidarity with the Cuban people.

Kenia asunción
¿Y cómo está mi gente?
My name is Kenia Asuncion. These are a couple of things I am passionate about… I love love love The Bronx! Born and raised there and it holds a special place in my heart. I’m from a Dominican household therefore I consider being bilingual a blessing. It is a tool that comes in handy! Back home I am involved with the youth, planting seeds of solidarity and self pride in their hearts and minds.Revolutionary Cuba changed my outlook on life. Organizing more awareness about the murderous blockade is a priority. I enjoy music and connecting with people who want a better world for our children.
