Fundraiser Position - Request for Proposals

Fundraiser Position - Request for RFP Proposals

The WFP Solidarity Collective requests proposals for a grant writer to provide grant writing services and proposal/application support to the organization on a contractual basis for a period of four months. The position is remote and can be carried out from anywhere in the world, with all communication being online. The mission of WFP Solidarity Collective is to support peace, justice and sustainable economies in the Americas by changing U.S. policies and corporate practices that contribute to poverty and oppression in Latin America and the Caribbean. As a registered US 501(c)3 organization in the US, we work in partnership with organizations, Black, Indigenous and campesino communities, and social movements in Colombia, Cuba, Honduras, and Mexico.

Scope of Work

The Solidarity Collective is invested in growing and diversifying the organization’s grants portfolio. The contracted work will include identifying and applying for new grant funding from nonprofit grant and foundation sources, family foundations, and other funding sources.

We are seeking a grant writer with a proven track record in writing successful proposals to diverse funding sources, and building funding relationships to provide more sustainable resource development. Experienced staff from the Solidarity Collective will partner with the grant writer to produce authentic narrative and accurate data for grants. Previous experience writing for social justice nonprofits and human rights accompaniment organizations would be helpful as would personal or professional experiences with and deep respect for indigenous, Black, and community leadership in Latin America. The contracted grant writer will work closely with members of the Solidarity Collective’s Fundraising Committee.

The Grant Writer’s responsibilities will include:

  1. Understanding and actively engaging in the work of the Fundraising Committee with regard to grant

  2. Conducting prospect research to identify funders with a propensity to fund work like that of the Solidarity Collective

  3. Working with the Fundraising Committee to meet grant deadlines (writing and compiling complete, effective Letters of Interest, full proposals, required reports, and online applications for grant funding.)

  4. Providing consistent and clear communication with Solidarity Collective concerning grant prospects, proposal and reporting requirements and deadlines

  5. Updating and maintaining grant templates and materials

  6. Managing grant records, organizational documents, and data in a professional and confidential way.

  7. Supporting the Fundraising Committee in building relationships with grant officers and other funders.

Hours needed to successfully manage the project are estimated to be between 25-40 hours per month, depending on the grant cycle.

Proposals should include the following:

  1. What is your grant writing and nonprofit fundraising experience?

  2. Why are you interested in working with us on this project?

  3. Do you have current relationships and contacts with grant funding organizations that you would be willing to connect with the Solidarity Collective.

  4. How do you charge? (By the hour? By contract? How much?)

  5. Please send your resume and 2 references to elise@solidaritycollective.org
